The Session of the Newtown Presbyterian Church is a governing board of 18 members of the church who are elected by the congregation. They serve 3 year terms and these “Elders” lead the congregation in several standing committees. The Elders for 2011-2012 are: Tim Beck, Tim Birky, Polly Breithaupt, Dwight Davis, Kathy Denlinger, Wilson Dorward, Janet Eshleman, Archie Foor, Roy Grabner, Becky Kerchner, Betsy Kruse, Jeanne Markey, Pete Peters, Melissa Reilly, Laurie Skoroda, Jack Stranix, Andy Warren and Marcia Scull is Clerk of Session. The Session meets monthly on the first Tuesday at 7:30 PM.
The Deacons are the ordained, pastoral board of the church, providing the congregation and community with a wide assortment of caring ministries. They are made up of 18 members elected by the congregation. The Deacons for 2011-2012 are: Donna Atkins, Nancy Bowers, Lynn Hillman, Mark Hillman, Charles Kane, Myrna Kane, Caroline Kruse, Jill Leidy, Megan Lorence, Kathryn Moncado, Linda Moody, Diane Nadler, Naomi Stranix, Linda Struzik, Alan Thress, Miriam Twiname, and Elaine Warren. The Deacons meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 7:15 PM in Ettenger Hall.
The Trustees are charged with the maintenance, upkeep and general oversight for the church’s buildings and grounds. The board is comprised of 9 members elected by the congregation, and they also serve as the corporation of the church and represent the congregation in most public and governmental issues. The Trustees for 2011-2012 are: Bruce Mitchell, Joe Eberhart, Vincent Farese, Ray Low, Dan Hagenbuch, Tom Rimel, Ann Sneed, and Jim Twiname. The Trustees meet the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 PM in Ettenger Hall.
