Session Times

In compliance with Newtown Borough regulations, morning class times will be staggered. Morning session times are 9:00 to 11:30 and 9:15 to 11:45. Afternoon times are 12:30 to 3:00. Please do not drop off your child more than 5 minutes before his/her scheduled start time. After dropping off your child, please do not linger but move your car so that others may park. We will appreciate promptness at dismissal. The Borough also requires that we monitor parking on the street. DO NOT double park, park on the wrong side of the street or block anyone’s driveway. Please move your car if asked to do so by the monitor.

Pick-Up Emergency Numbers

All children must be personally picked up inside the building. Teachers are not authorized to release a child to an unknown person. Inform teachers in advance if someone is going to pick up your child, by phone in an emergency. Please sign a carpool list provided by the teachers at the beginning of the school year. In the case of carpools, the teacher will release children as a group to their driver upon his/her appearance. Please be ALERT to the children’s actions as they leave. Take care on steps and be aware of cars and street activity.

Emergency numbers, home phone changes, pick-up person changes, must be updated with teachers when applicable during the school year.

School Calendar

Please check the enclosed calendar for scheduled days. Snow days are concurrent with the Council Rock School District. For school closing due to bad weather, WATCH THE TELEVISION. Morning sessions will close when Council Rock Schools open one hour late. Afternoon classes will be cancelled when there is an early dismissal due to snow. No lunch bunch on these days.

Tuition

Please be prompt in paying by the first of the month. Send check payable to the Newtown Presbyterian Church Preschool to: PRESCHOOL, Newtown Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 287, Newtown, PA 18940. If tuition is being paid for two or more children from the same family, the first child pays full tuition; the second child receives a ten percent discount.

Snacks

Snacks are included in activity for children each day. Artificial-free fruit juices are served. Shapes, colors, numbers or alphabet reinforcement is done with wholesome food. Children will be encouraged to try some new foods but never forced. Holidays and birthdays will be celebrated. See the teachers for special-day planning with treats. Gum is not permitted in Preschool.

Work Table/Bulletin Board

Children’s papers and projects can be found on the tables in the hallway. These are things that go home that day. Mothers, please pick up your child’s work and that of other carpool children. Also, all school notices are posted on the bulletin board. Please note any information and pass it along to the other mothers.

Health

The importance of safeguarding our children’s health cannot be over-emphasized. It is imperative that a child remains at home if he/she shows any sign of illness. It is the parent’s responsibility to communicate a child’s special health needs to the teachers.

Clothes

Dress your child comfortably. He/she will be playing actively, at times on the floor. Please encourage your child to learn to dress him/herself in coat and hat. Please attach mittens to the coat. Large size boots are appreciated. LABEL ALL CLOTHING, TOYS AND OTHER THINGS BROUGHT TO SCHOOL. Children should always wear clothing appropriate for their toileting capabilities.

Parent Conferences

One parent conference will be scheduled. Teachers are pleased to talk with you at any time concerning your child’s progress.
