Welcome to Newtown Presbyterian Church, a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). We are a community of faith in Jesus Christ. We value worshiping, serving, and learning together.
We, as his followers, seek to share Jesus Christ's vision of God and the world ("the Kingdom of God"), paying special attention to the sermons he preached, the lessons he taught, and his many acts of compassion and empowerment -- toward both the poor and the poor in spirit.
By God's grace (and with God's help), we are following in Jesus' footsteps by sharing his ministries of compassion, justice, peace, and reconciliation with one another and the world.
What's our purpose? What's our mission? It's found in the New Testament of the Bible--the words of Jesus:
"Love God with all of your heart, soul, and mind, and love your neighbor as you love yourself."

Thanks be to God for Jesus Christ, who reveals the truth about God's will for the world. All praise, honor, and glory be unto God...and, again...
Welcome to NPC!
While we continue to work on upgrading our technology to allow for more successful and consistent live-streaming of our Sunday morning services, we are able to record them! We have posted links to the services on our Online Worship and Resources page. We hope to have Sunday services posted to this page by Tuesday for members and friends who were unable to be with us in person. Please contact the church office if you have any questions. Thanks for your understanding and patience!
9am Worship Service at the
Historic Church starting June 14
SUMMER WORSHIP SCHEDULE
We will be observing our Summer Worship Schedule beginning Sunday, June 14. Our 9am service will be at the Historic Church - 76 N. Sycamore Street - (it is also Newtown Welcome Day so you will have to park in the Eagle Road parking lot behind the church as Sycamore Street will be closed) and the 11am service will be in air-conditioned Ettenger Hall.
11am Communion Worship Service in Ettenger Hall
The 11AM worship service is basically identical to the 9AM service (liturgy, prayers, scripture, sermon, music), with this important amendment: we gather at The Table (at the invitation of the host, our Lord Jesus Christ) to celebrate Holy Communion/Eucharist every Sunday. All are welcome to receive bread ("grain of the earth") and cup ("fruit of the vine"), which sacramentally bear witness to the body and blood of Jesus Christ. The Lord's Supper celebrates and affirms God's abundant, amazing grace. "Come," the old liturgy reads, "taste and see that the Lord is good!"
Worship bags for children can be picked up from one of our Ushers in the Welcome Room.
We look forward to seeing you and sharing these most meaningful worship experiences with you!

AMERICA 250 CELEBRATION
In appreciation of the America 250 Celebration, our worship service on July 5, 2026, will be a gathering of the NPC members at the Historic Church at 10 am (No 11am service). It is hoped that those attending will want to dress in colonial garb as we sing patriotic hymns and have a special anthem marking this important time in history. The Historic Church played an important part in the fight for freedom, and we hope to recognize this contribution. Bells will be rung at the conclusion of the service as was done at the time of the reading of the Declaration of Independence. The Sew Be It group have made dust caps and aprons for the women and will transform men’s old pants into knickers if they wish.
The congregation is being asked to contribute refreshments for that day, utilizing recipes that will be available from a cookbook of compiled recipes from that time period. We will gather on the lawn following the service to enjoy those refreshments! The recipes are modern in nature, but with ingredients of those times.
We hope everyone who is available will participate to recognize the historic significance of that weekend and of the Historic Church’s role in that part of our history! Please join us on Sunday, July 5, at 10am for an historic remembrance.
The Worship and Historic Church Committees
From Psalm 46:
"God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change, though the mountains shake in the heart of the sea; though its waters roar and foam, though the mountains tremble with its tumult...'Be still, and know that I am God! I am exalted among the nations, I am exalted in the earth.' The Lord of hosts is with us; the God of Jacob is our refuge." Amen.
